My brother and I were riding our bikes home from Madisonville when I was 9 and he was 12. We weren't allowed to ride on the highway, so we would go the back way down Johnson Street/Old Pontchatoula Hwy and then down Galatas Cemetery Road.
We'd heard about the silk lady out whole lives, but we knew it was all talk meant to scare us. Well, this day my brother took off and left me on Old Pontchatoula Highway, but I didn't care. I could make it by myself.

When I got to this deserted area about a half mile from Galatas, I heard a very loud intense high pitched scream coming from the swamp, and even though

I knew it was my brother, it still scared me.
I was determined not to show it. Then I heard it again closer and then again even closer, so I yelled for him to stop. Then I heard my brother scream from ahead of me to run and hurry up! Well, this confused me, so I stopped my bike to turn and see who was behind me. I turned around and saw a ghost of a young woman who was as pale as could be. She was wearing a very old style all silk dress floating
