I saw her about 4 year ago while I was waiting for my landlord to get home. It was about 11:00 pm on Johnson St. She appeared to be dress in a long silk dress like the one Cinderella would wear. I never say people are making that up because it is true folks. Submitted by Jimmy

When I was about seven years old I was staying with my mawmaw at her house on Johnson St. across from 807 Johnson St. I was in the bedroom with my cousin. We went to sleep and I was wakened up in the middle of the night by someone sitting on the edge of the bad. At first I thought it was my mawmaw coming to check on us, but when I looked I saw a man in a Confederate uniform holding what looked like a musket. The man was just looking at me like he was protecting me. I tried to scream for my mawmaw, but nothing came out ,and I couldn't get up to run but didn't move, so I nudged my cousin and said her name, but she wouldn't wake up. She's a hard sleeper. Then I just throw the cover over my head and closed my eyes. I never slept in that room again. Now the house is torn down, but that house always creeped me out after that.

The current Silk Lady Lane was created relatively recently by the guy who lives up there. His family created the road within the last 20 years. There was no road there before. There never was a Silk Lady Lane only an area of the swamp where she appeared. I saw her in 1971 along with a few of my friends. We were told to park along the side of the old Ponchatoula Highway right besides some old brick columns which were formerly on either side of a very old driveway that led back to an old mansion which had burned down many years before. The old columns have disappeared now. Submitted by Paul

I live in Madisonville and always heard of the silk lady story. Sometimes I think I see her. Some people say different versions of the story but I know one version that fits. She was always getting married, she was crazy but not always.
