I feel that before sharing this I should mention that I have Native American Creek Tribe blood. My biological father rented a house out in the country by Afton, Oklahoma. This house was located by a place called Horse Creek. Now Horse Creek has a very dark history. The legend goes that back in the 1800s the United States wanted to sell some of the pieces of Indian Territory they believed the Cherokee and Creek wouldn't miss.
They found Horse Creek

inhabited by Creek Indians and decided it would be easier to kill them than bargain for their land, so they sent in Cavalry to take the village by storm
|
and force the warriors up the creek where riflemen picked them off as they charged through the waters. The waters began to rise, and the horses panicked and tried to get out of the creek. The soldiers began to use those that tried to escape as target practice. They say on dark nights you can still hear the frightened horses trying to escape the creek.
