The ghost is of a man wearing a black trench coat, walking a large black dog on a leash, and you are unable to see the face of the man. He is always seen walking westward and stops under the same Street light for about four minutes before vanishing into thin air. This ghostly figure of a man is always smoking a cigarette that can be seen in spite of the fact you cannot see his face. To the older people in Altus he is fondly known as ''the dogwalker,''

About four miles west of Altus, Oklahoma is a haunted oil Jack or (oil pump). If you look, you can see the oil Jack driving along highway 62. Thirty six years ago people began seeing something orange and glowing near the old oil Jack at night as they drove along the highway. It is thought to be the ghost of an oil field worker who was killed accidently while the oil Jack was being installed into the ground. If you stop at night in your automobile, and shine a flashlight at the old oil jack, the orange glowing ghost of a man will appear and began floating in your direction.
