I grew up in Calera and graduated from there in 1994. The ''underground gym'' was filled in but not all of it. There is a trap door in the old coach's office that led to what now is a storage facility. They probably don't even use that anymore. When I was in high school it was always the ''dare'' for the freshmen basketball players to stay the night in the gym. Not many made it through the night and fled because of the bouncing basketballs that came

out of nowhere. My personal experience is as follows.
When I was a sophomore I was in choir class. Each year we put on the Miss Calera Pageant

as a fundraiser. There were about five of us, along with our music teacher in the school around 8:00 at night to decorate. If you know the school, then you know the office was by the front door. The cafeteria was down on the other end of the building. We had finished decorating the cafeteria for the pageant, so we went up to the office to use the phone, so some of us could call for a ride.
We were all in the office with the door closed. No one else
