At our house there was this mirror my parents set up, so they could see the end of our hallway to know if we sneaked out to the end of the hallway to watch TV.

in his room. She was sound asleep in her own bed. We often heard loud bangs and doors slamming randomly even when no one else was around. My sister had

a room all by herself at the other end of the house. To get to her room from mine, my brothers' or my parents' room you had to go down a hallway (unlit at night) through the living room, (sometimes entirely dark) the dark kitchen, and another hallway nearly always dark with two bathrooms and a laundry room along the way dark at night. When I was little I had awful nightmares all the time, so I would generally pick a family member to cuddle with usually
