My girlfriend and I were returning from a friend's shop east of Jennings one November evening in 2004. Her sister had died a few days prior, and it was a cold, wet evening. We were returning on a side road to a short highway that connected Jennings to Terlton, running east-to-west. We were about a quarter-mile east of Jennings about to intersect at the Junction when I suddenly sighted a silver motorcycle, and a black-leather-clad driver with a helmet speed in

front of us. My girlfriend saw him also and I commented that he was driving a bit too fast on such a wet evening. His parking lights were on; I saw that

much.
As we pulled up to the stop sign to see for traffic, we glanced in both directions and did not see anything! I looked at her; she looked at me, and I asked if she heard anything. She turned off the motor as I hopped out to see if perhaps the rider had slid off the road. There was not any traffic noise except the gentle patter of the rain beginning to fall. We turned east, the rider's direction, and drove the quarter mile toward Jennings;
