I rented a house on E. Madison Street in 2001 that I knew had a ghost. I'd seen shadows and movements from time to time but never mentioned it to anyone else. One day my best friend came over, and as we were walking to the kitchen, she stopped and stared into the living room. She had this really freaked out look on her face, and I asked her what was wrong. She said ''I just saw something walk through your living room!'' As soon as she said that I knew I wasn't crazy!
That night I was standing in the kitchen with my ex-husband and decided to tell him about what we've seen, and in the middle of my story the light fixture came crashing down from the ceiling! We had been standing directly below it just moments before it fell! Even he was a believer after that. Needless to say, I didn't live there much longer!.

My husband and I went to the VFW and enjoyed a night of dancing there in McAlester, OK. It was back in the 1970s. It closed about 1:00 am. As we started down the steps, there sat an old woman on the concrete porch in the dim light. We asked her if she needed a ride home and she said no, I'm waiting for the street car. Well the tracks are still faintly noticeable, but there has been no street car since 1800s? It was at one time a German prison of war camp. We got in the car parked by the steps looked back, and she was gone!!!! She was wearing a dark headscarf. She was sort of stocky with a dark coat on; she looked German now that I think back on it. I wonder if perhaps she used to visit someone in the POW camp? Were they allowed to have visitors?.
