Comment by Martin: I've been on top of Mt Scott many times and did not know it was a burial ground. I've told my family when I die I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered there.

Back in the 1980's some friends from work and I decided to sneak up to mount Scott after the rangers closed the top part of the mountain. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the mountain being haunted and that it was an old Indian burial site.

She would never go up there herself. We walked up through the road and got to the top about 11:30 at night. The moon was full so it helped with the trip up. The site was beautiful we could see the lights from Lawton ft sill and Medicine Park.

I had packed my binoculars and was able to look around for an hour. I started telling them stories I had heard from my grandmother about the mountain being haunted. Afterwards we were joking about performing a ghost dance while we were there.
Being Comanche I knew a little about gourd dancing but that was all. We gave it a try and had a good laugh. We decided to continue in our version of the gourd dance which was pretty pathetic but we were having fun. I remember our singing started to really improve it sounded like a couple of voices being added to our song. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked back to see an older Indian behind me. He was dancing and was dressed like old pictures I had seen of our elders.
