You could hear her shuffling through papers. The stories of the house was a lady had borrowed money and died without telling her husband where she had put it for safe keeping. I never found a way to prove it true.

My dad lived close to Otter Creek on the old Laing road in the 1940s. He had several ghostly encounters in the old house they lived in. One particular incident involved a mist like apparition that entered the home through his bedroom window.

He clearly remembers the apparition going through the house down the hallways and in and out of rooms like it was looking around for something. The mist continued back down the hallway and returned to his room where it ''layered down on him'' and he could feel the pressure of the mist pushing on him.

It then rose up and went out of the window from which it came and disappeared. He swears he was completely awake during this time and not dreaming. He always associated the ''ghost'' to an old army outpost from pre-statehood that existed not far from the home just north on the family farm.
Students for OU would come out to search for old Indian artifacts like arrowheads and military artifacts, like remnants of the fort and military uniform pieces. It's not clear if any soldiers had died at the fort or been buried there.
I've always found this story fascinating.

Comment by Wsa: There has always been interesting things that have happened around the Tipton area. Old fort, old POW camp, and we all remember when the tornado hit there in the 1970s. I may be giving my age away but I can remember when Tipton had stores and a few other businesses.
It comes as no surprise to me about the supernatural events that have been noticed there. That highway west of Tipton seems to have some kind of curse on it due to all of the bad things that happened on it and around it.
