But he was screaming, yelling, cursing. He was in the middle of the road in oncoming traffic but nobody saw that he was there, just me and my husband, then all of a sudden he vanished! It was pretty creepy!. Submitted by Crystal & Levy
Comment by Hope: One night when driving by there we saw the lights flickering on and off in on of the rooms when I later told one of my friends about it she told me she saw an old man in a wheelchair at the corner of the street just sitting there. I think y'all may have seen the same ghost.
Comment by Mark: I used to work there before they closed it. There were are a lot of creepy things going on in that building. The story behind the man in the wheel chair was well known to employees. Apparently in the 1980s a mental patient escaped the hospital and committed suicide by rolling his wheelchair onto Amarillo Boulevard - the old convent portion of the building also has a lot of strange activity. Supposedly at least two nuns died inside the convent.

Comment by Estella: One time in maybe 2013 my family and I were at the stop light, and I'm sure I saw somebody looking down from a second floor window, but nobody else in the car saw it even after I pointed to the window.

Comment by anonymous: I was there around 2004. A friend's mom worked as a security guard at the closed hospital. For a while they still kept files stored at that location, and she would have to locate and fax things over to the other hospital when requested. She brought us with because she didn't like being there alone at night. There was still power to some areas of the hospital, but we had free roam of the entire hospital and church.
Some of the security officers from different shifts would mess with each other by placing things in awkward locations, but it all stayed in the close area of the main security room, but we found the more eerie things beyond that. There were limited things that had power and automatic lights that would turn on as you made your way down the hallway. The most interesting thing was the top floor. The emergency exit stairs were sealed off preventing you from accessing the top floor and getting to the top floor with the elevator required a specific key which is required again to call the elevator up to leave the floor.
We made it up there and found that it was the psych ward. There were padded rooms and other rooms with a big glass observation windows with shackle points built into the ground. I'll never forget getting off the elevator after it closed behind us hearing a ding from the elevator and the top floor light lit up above the doors like someone up there had pressed the button to call it up. We ran as fast as we could back to the security room. The long hallway lights turned on as we went, but then all of a sudden an automatic light at the end of the hallway turned on, and it stopped us dead in our tracks.
We built the courage to slowly keep going and eventually made it back to the security room and that was the last time I stepped foot inside. This is before I read or heard any of the stories about this place and before all of the vandalism that has occurred. It could have been some sick prank, and my friends mom could have been watching us on the cameras the whole time laughing, but I never actually found out if that was the case or not.
