A land on Highway 36 belonged to a man who told me countless stories of strange happenings - such as the sound of footsteps when no one was there, weird things happening to appliances in the mobile home in which he lived, and later having it confirmed that nothing was wrong with them. The dogs he had could sense when something was awry as well. I am his daughter, and never really believed in spirits or ghosts, until one day I witnessed it personally. I heard

it - the crystal clear sound of what sounded like a grown man with possibly boots on (something heavy) walk up the steps, grasp, and turn the door handle,

opened the ''locked'' door, may I add, step into the kitchen, take a few steps in, and then nothing. I was sitting in the living room with my father and his wife who had also had many strange experiences.
The memory of it creeps me out to this day, and that was nearly twenty years ago. My dad used to say all the time that he thought they were near an Indian burial ground. I am not sure if this is the case, but there is no record of what or who lived
