wasn't any of those. It wasn't anything I've ever seen. It was crouched, but looked like it would be tall if it could stand (it didn't look like it could. ) It was this dark greenish black. The face looked like a turtle in regards to where the eyes and no nose, but large nostrils were placed. In bright white light instead of dull green, its eyes looked more orange. I thought I saw scales and claws, but it didn't hang around long enough to be sure.
light worked to scare it off, and it bolted into the woods with enough force to snap branches and jostle trees. My dog pulled his leash out from under
my foot when he took off after it and chased it down from the road. He finally stopped, and the sound of trees faded out. I got him, and we headed straight home.|
After an encounter with an animal, my dog does this thing where he runs ahead of me as far as his leash will let him (about eight feet) and stare at high alert towards the direction the animal is, until I catch up with him. Rinse and repeat a few times.
