We bought our house new in 2001. A few months after we moved in we began to hear strange noises in the attic and upstairs. On one occasion our daughter claimed she awoke in the middle of the night and saw a man standing next to her bed.
I'm not sure whether the ghosts are hostile or not. Our house is in sleepy hollow.

Late at night I heard a knock on my door. So I opened my door and saw a woman sitting on my curb. So I went back to bed and as I was getting in bed the doorbell rang again! So this time when I answered there was a lady there asking for a cup of water.

As she was asking for water my neighbors drove by. The next day I asked my neighbors if they saw that lady at my door. They told me that they didn't.
