New London right outside Kilgore... On the practice field there is a hole... No matter how much dirt you put in the hole it will not fill up... The hole is all that is left of the London school after the explosion in 1931...
They dug a big hole and bulldozed the remains of the building into it after the rescue and recovery had stopped. The hole never fills in and there are always puffs of smoke that come from the hole...

I Marched on top of that hole for 3 years as the football practice field and band practice field lays right over the top of the blown school remains...

Comment by Jd: If you went to the school you would know that the school explosion was in 1937. The hole is not there and the puffs of smoke is a urban legend I have investigated that over the years and nothing is there. It is an urban legend. I was born and raised in New London.
