I had just recently moved from Houston to Lockney TX in August 2008, I was living with some of my husbands friends when one day when no one was home I was with my little 3 year old daughter getting ready to lay her down for our afternoon nap, as I laid there watching my little one sleep I had closed my eyes, and no more then a few minutes had passed and I had heard this train horn, it was so loud I thought someone was going to hit the house do to we lived off locust Rd. Which is one of the main roads to go to downtown Lockney. My daughter was sound asleep and we both sat straight up in bed . She asked me what it was and I told her that I wasn't sure. My heart was pounding hard and I was in a state of confusion because there are no longer active railroad tracks here in Lockney.

That one still has me confused till on another account one of my best friends and I were outside sitting on the front porch of her moms house and she asked me if I could hear that I asked what? She said ''it sounds like a train, like an old steam engine train'' I was tripping do to what I had experienced a few months earlier, we were both confused.

Today I think Lockney has deep hidden secrets and when you ask the older elderly about Lockney they seem to clam up like they know but won't tell you. Submitted by Carri

The story below is completely false. The high school gym was never built on an old grave yard. The grave yard has always been north of the town. There was never a fire in the basement of the school (even though the school itself did burn down recently).
