In 1965 we were living in Troup. Our new found friends told us of a house that was haunted. They told us the footsteps of children can be seen in the dust on the stairway. Even if you remove the dust the footprints would come back. He took us to the house, and it was open. Furniture, personal belongings, and family heirlooms still remained. It was like they left everything behind.
He told us the man had killed his family and that the kids ran upstairs

to hide. We saw the footprints in the dust. We wiped down the narrow stairway. The next morning we went back, and sure enough the dust and footprints

of two children were back on the stairs. Unbelievable but true. I often wonder what became of the big two-story white house and the real story behind the footprints.
