I lived in Whiteface, Texas. It was a very long time ago in 1974 to be exact. I was eight years old at the time. The house we lived in had a church in the back and was across the alley. We lived there for a while. It was a quiet town, and I was bored with living there. My brother and sister were six and four years old. In those days the parents were strict, and you kept to yourself. noticed from time to time that the church had people coming and going. That at the end of the day they would all leave. The pastor would be the last to

leave.
In the 1970s, the church doors were open even if no one was there. I mean no pun about what I am about to say. It was an all-whites church; people didn't mix in those days. I admit I was scared for what I was about to do. I can't explain it. It was like that church caught my attention that day, like never before. It was a feeling of ''COME TO ME''. Funny I know. I waited until everyone left. I didn't want to get into trouble being in there.
