I lived in Gladden Farms and had only lived in my house about a month when I had my encounter. I was in bed praying about not wanting to be there. I had just gone through a heartbreaking divorce, and I had moved to be near my daughters. I missed my home.
I suddenly felt like someone was standing beside me, which creeped me out. Then a voice as clear as day said ''leave''. It wasn't in a menacing or evil sounding voice. It was just a regular voice,

and it was a man's voice. I told my landlady, and she said it was either her son or her husband. She had heard both in the house. My daughter came out

and burned some white sage as I prayed.
My landlady told them to leave me alone because she wanted me there and would be very angry if they scared me away. I was never bothered by them again, but I did smell cigarettes burning sometimes and heard people whispering every night in my bedroom. My cousin drove out from Kentucky to visit and heard the whispering too. I came to love the house and Marana, and I didn't want to leave.
