If you are on your way up the south entrance to Carter lake before you get the pay area, there's a dirt road (Bennett road I think.) Going south there's a little school bus stop off the main road. Anyways about 1 1/2 miles down the road a few friends of mine and me saw a ghost standing on the west side of the road. He was not from this time period. He was more depression era. He had a duffle bag and a suitcase next to him. He seemed very upset as

we passed him. I immediately stopped the car. We all got out, and he was gone just like that.

Comment by Cindy: That is the old schoolmaster Mr. Bennett. He used to travel between the two school houses in Berthoud back in the late 1800s to early 1900s. He used to walk across Mr. Hertha's property (which is now Rainbow Lake Estates), and Mr. Hertha did not like him doing so. One day Mr. Bennett was walking and crossed onto Mr. Hertha's property. Mr. Hertha rode up to him on horse and shot him. Mr. Bennett returned shots and both were killed. I researched this at the museum in town as I used to see him (Mr. Bennett) behind my house in Rainbow Lake Estates.
