We were staying in Grand Lake and were told to take a hike around monarch lake. A dangerous storm came through and although it was lightning hailing and raining we weren't afraid. After the storm passed we continued on our hike around the lake.
When we got to the far side of the lake (furthest from the parking lot) both my husband and I got the weirdest feelings. We felt like we were not wanted there. I can't explain it but we were so scared we could

not get done with our hike quick enough.
I swear that there was something in that woods and it did not want us there.

Comment by anonymous: Same!!! I tried to hike around the lake solo. Got to the mid point and panicked. It was a horrible feeling all around me. I've tried 3 other times since then. And something weird always happens. Flas storms creepy feelings all around the lake. I am done with monarch lake.
Comment by B: This happened at Monarch Lake Colorado Trail. I hiked around this lake solo and kept feeling anxious the closer I got to the halfway point around the lake. I was so panicked and fear stricken; I was shaking to get back to the trail head near the parking lot. Monarch Lake has a horrible energy left in the woods at the halfway mark. The storms come in quickly and strong. Every time I go there there is a heavy darkness that looms over the lake. It is a beautiful lake but stricken.
