My family and I lived on West 20th Street around 2006. The house was built in 1903. At first things were fine. Soon after we moved in I started experiencing things. Much of what happened would occur in the back bedroom.
I saw the apparition of a turn of the 19th century woman standing at the doorway to the hallway from the living room. The attic was accessed from the living room. You literally stepped up into a doorway cut into the wall.

would hear footsteps up there. One night the lights went nuts on me. On several occasions I would have a feeling of being held down and unable to call

for help. My daughter had a couple talking toys that had dead or no batteries in them.
Out of nowhere they would come on. When moving out I had stayed to clean the oven. I finished and my wife was on her way to pick me up. I fell asleep on the floor in the living room while waiting for her.
Something picked me up and slammed me down on the floor.

Comment by No Name: I also wanted to comment on the turn of the century woman that the writer mentioned. The attic was off an upstairs room that you could walk right into. When I was very small I remember the same woman coming out of the attic and watching over me. I remember how the wind used to whistle through the attic as well. If this is the same house, you're not crazy. This stuff really happens there.
