I lived in a house. On 16th in Post Falls with roommates who had small children. One night the power went out, and we all lit candles and sat at the table just talking. All of a sudden her two-year-old freaked out and started screaming and trying to get as far away from the stairs as possible. We had all thought the house was haunted, but he had never freaked out like that. It scared us all. He cried for about an hour, and then everything went back to

normal. He still wouldn't go near the stairs after that day. Submitted by Scared

I heard many ghost stories growing up in Post Falls and even perpetuated a few myself. My grandparents owned some of the original parcels of land sold in the 1940s and built a motel and apartment complexes on the space. Though I teased that one of the units was haunted and laughed as my girlfriends would sit and watch then run screaming as a regular, and probably perplexed human emerged. I had grown and moved away before I had an unexplained experience in Post Falls. A friend of mine had a cousin obsessed with supernatural stories and asked if I thought I could find the ''old schoolhouse'' because he had heard it was haunted. I knew he was talking about the old Pleasant View School, so I agreed to tag along and maybe have some fun. I had been out there probably no less than 20 times as a kid, all of us sharing our own stories.
I lived just thirty minutes away in Spokane. That night I felt I was on a wild goose chase and was even accused of making up the directions, but it took hours to find though the location is a cinch. The three of us were about to give up and pulled to the side of the road. One by one, we all felt sick. It was as though we had all three been struck with the flu at once. I had to get out, feeling like I would throw up. I looked up to realize we were sitting in front of the school. I actually felt extremely angry that my friends were probably messing with me and accused them of the pranks I had pulled as a kid. One look, however, and no one was in the mood to play jokes. All of us were upset, scared, and sick. My friend's cousin kept whispering ''we should go... Let's leave. '' We couldn't wait to get out of there, but the car wouldn't start. The three of us took turns trying to start it, but even the battery was dead. The three of us decided to give up for a bit, and I kept begging them to just sit in the car until we could come up with a plan. We were all so agitated and argumentative, which was polar opposite of how we always had gotten along. Submitted by JJ
Comment by anonymous: The Pleasant View School was built in 1910 and housed students until 1937. A local organization is working on restoring it in the near future.
