One day I was sitting in my house when all of a sudden I heard some rustling in the basement. I called the cops saying an intruder broke into my house. They came right away but found nothing in my house. They warned me that prank calling the cops was a serious issue, and I must not do it again. I apologized and went back to the living room where I was working on an essay for school. I went into the kitchen to get some spaghetti, and I heard it again. I wasn't about to call the cops again, so I just ignored it and made my food. After a few minutes, the noise was back.
I was thirteen at the time, and my house was right on the edge of the Snake River. We lived in a three-story home with a nice little garden out back. We were basically right by the part of the river that locals call the ''Sandbar. '' I'm not saying there is any connection, but in my neighborhood there was always a myth floating around that a couple houses down from mine, a farmer lived who was little bit on the crazy side. He would take his chickens and hang them by the neck against a tree. They say he haunts that house to this day.

I'm not a big believer in ghosts, but on this day I was 100 percent sure that they were real, and ever since have been. Back to the story, at the time when I heard the sound, I grabbed the home phone and called my mom, but she didn't answer. My dad was on a business trip to Sacramento. Since I was alone, I decided I had to find the sound. I decided to go downstairs and find the noise. I looked in all the rooms, but there was nothing that could have made that sound. I realized I must have been imagining things, but I wasn't. I said out loud, ''Nothing is going to hurt me in this house. '' I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I had faith that nothing could hurt me. However, saying that was a mistake. I heard a large crash from my parents' bedroom.

I ran back there, and found the curtains swaying. The window was closed, and no breeze was coming in anyway. Then the toilet flushed, and I started freaking out. Then the sink turned on, and I ran to the doorway. The door had been shut and locked. I unlocked it and ran out. I ran to my neighbor's house until my mom got home. I never stayed home alone again. One day I was in my room and I heard a knocking. I was home alone that time and I was scared. I went to answer the door. No one was there and it wasn't a person going door bell ditching. I checked the security cameras, I couldn't make out what was there.
