I have heard a strange story about Spirit Lake Idaho. One of my friends told me the reason they call it Spirit Lake is because 2 people loved each other so much but weren't allowed to see each other jumped off the cliff together.

The origins of Spirit Lake's namesake is unconfirmed but I was told about a legend by friends who have a family lake cabin there (same family that I'd written about in another ghost experience). An old gold prospector who lived by himself in the late 1800's had a small cabin in the woods near the lake.
He'd been digging a mine for years but still didn't find the motherlode. Eventually he went crazy and burned his cabin down. Then he got on a boat paddled to the middle of the lake and burned himself.
