Our family was gathered in Virginia City, and my grand daughter and I saw ''something'' fly over our heads; it didn't look like anything we had ever seen in our lives. It's been many years back, and we figured just a new airplane or something NASA designed, but it was strange.

I was fifteen to seventeen when I stayed at the St. Mary's Art Center. For three summers in a row I was lucky enough to take art classes and explore the secrets of Virginia City. During my stays I slept in the pink room, not sure of the room number, but it was the first room on the right when you walk in. I was teased by Steve the instructor about the ghosts, a nun and hauntings. I didn't believe him at first. Now fifteen years later I am a huge believer, and I am still haunted by my personal experiences.

I am thirty-one now and have had regular dreams and nightmares of this old hospital. I dream of the white nun and have recurring dreams of walking through the attic which I have never been in or have seen pictures of until today. I just came across a picture of the attic, and it is detail by detail the same attic in my dream. On top of that, I heard people running in the halls at late hours, 12:00 am. I was terrified to look out my door because I knew everyone was asleep, and it was not the type of group to run around up and down the stairs. I heard knocks on my door every night.

One night after celebrating my sweet sixteen birthday at a great German restaurant about seven miles away from St. Mary's one of the guys wanted to walk home (brave drunk. ) I got back to the house and went straight to bed (no cell phones or I-gadgets then). I heard someone stomp on the floor above me in the room which I believe was the old chapel room. I thought this was the guy trying to scare me. I remained terrified and did not move. I then heard someone knock on my door, so I called out ''yes?'' but then nothing. I was scared out of my mind. Then something slammed so hard into the window that faces out to the front patio. I felt the entire house shake. I screamed for my mom, but no one was home. They had gone to a saloon on the main street, and I was there by myself. I lay awake in the pink room frightened out of my little mind. I could not make sense of any of the noises, and I was angry I was there alone. We woke early for a photo shoot, and I asked my mom if they were running around trying to scare me. She looked at me like I was crazy and responded ''No, we don't go around trying to scare people, we weren't even there. ''
That whole day I felt like everyone was in on this mean joke. People started to realize how upset and scared I was, and they assured me that it was not any of them. I started to believe them because they were such sweet people and really were concerned for me.
I have had a lot of experiences from my stays there, but that night literally haunts me. I have had dreams of the attic which I only recently saw pictures of. I have a dream that a woman is stuck and burned to death in which I also just read that story of the Nun today after seeing a picture of the attic. I have heard knocking, stomping, and pounding from various places in the pink room.
