Comment by clovis resident: If you google Cannon AFB you can see that the closest grave yard is 5-6 miles away in Clovis. The highway is behind the housing.
Comment by Anon: No it is not. I have been to the grave yard behind cannon AFB housing (Chavez). Go look for yourself, google doesn't show everything.
Comment by Kurt: There is in fact a small graveyard to the northwest on a dirt road directly across highway 60/84 from base housing.

Comment by Angelfire: The cemetery is called Blacktower. It is north of 60/84 on Curry County Road R west of Chavez West housing. Records indicate that there are two Civil War soldiers among the 50 known burials at Blacktower.

Comment by anonymous: The Blacktower Cemetery is part of an old town called Blacktower. When the base used to be called Portair Field before it was used by the military, Blacktower sat where that base housing was. The town of Portair was just on the other side of the base gate behind the Alsups. Cannon AFB tried to replace all that housing and in doing so made a huge effort to repair, renovate, catalog, and secure the entire cemetery.
