I believe these stories. Especially the story about the woman that lived behind a school for specially challenged children and adults. In 1990-91 my mother taught as a special education teacher at the school. And one night my mother decided to catch up on some work and found herself all alone at the school.
Well to make a long story short... She was typing a report of some kind and a screw fell out of the now ancient type writer. So she put it back on and continued

typing ... Two more screws fell out of the type writer in a different spot ..
She put them back on... Then she said it felt like someone had walked

into the room and walked by her desk.. She got up and asked is anyone here? May I help you with something ... No answer .. She sat down and continued to type ..
Trying to not psych herself out .. Trying to complete her report. She told me ... As she was almost at the end of her report the construction paper rolls that were leaning in the corner the direction of the wall all fell over at the same time.
She went over and picked them up ... And sat
