Gallinas Canyon to find a homestead in upper Gallinas Canyon or beyond. In the spring they stopped in the village to stock up on supplies and told the villagers that they would be back by winter.
Well the first snow of the winter happened and the couple never came back. A group of local men from Gallinas went up the canyon to find them. They found them all the way up the river almost to the head waters.
The man had been attacked by wild animals

and his body parts were scattered throughout their campsite. The woman was found frozen in the river farther down from their camp. She was wearing a long
|
white night gown and it was dirty and torn to shreds.
No one knows exactly what happened to them since there were no survivors. However the woman is sometimes seen by children who are playing near the Gallinas river.
