This happened about twenty or so years ago. Tears in my eyes writing this down; it still gives me chills.
Going down the highway towards Antelope Wells, right when the road curves back south, there used to be an old farm complex. My pops and I used to roam around abandoned buildings in hope of finding buried gold. Usually all we'd turn up were rattlesnakes and rats. So we saw this old abandoned complex and decided to drive out and took a look around.

The place was surrounded by about four mobile trailer homes, which my pops decided to look through. I went inside the house.
Now, I've been in

dozens of abandoned homes and have never had the feeling of unease that I felt as soon as I walked in this place. It was like someone had put a blanket over me. I felt alone, muted, and terrified. I wanted to run away, but I didn't want to look like a weakling in front of my dad, so I kept it together. That decision still scares me twenty years later.
