I lived in Pecos when I was younger, and I had the most terrifying and unbelievable experience of my life. It was so bizarre that even as a child I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Until now I've only mentioned it once before because I don't want people to think I was crazy.
We used to live just outside of town up in the hills in a heavily wooded area. One night my dad and uncle were headed to town for some reason, and I went along with them.

There was only room for two in the cab of the truck, so I rode in the back. (Mind you, this was the 1980s). As we drove down the hill on the bumpy dirt

road, I noticed a bright orange-reddish light appear at the top of the hill. At first I thought it was the moon, so I didn't think much of it. However, as I turned to look again, I noticed that it was getting larger and closer. I started feeling confused because I couldn't make out what I was seeing.
As this light was approaching us, I could see it was closing distance quickly, and now I was getting scared! I could see this ''light'' wasn't a light at
