A few years back I decided to take a solo trip out by Escalante to see the golden cathedral and to visit Coyote Gulch. When I got out into the desert where I would be camping for the night, I felt like I was being watched. There was an eerie feeling that I couldn't shake, so I decided to drive back into town and stay at a hotel. On my way back I swear that a huge black bull suddenly appeared in front of my truck. I swerved, slammed on the breaks,

and braced for impact knowing that I was too slow in my reaction to miss him.
I hit nothing. It made absolutely no sense. I knew that I was going

to hit that bull, and yet I went right through him. I stopped on the side of the road and looked for any sign of the bull and there was nothing. There was no sound or sign at all. I got a feeling of dread in that moment and decided to speed the rest of the way back to Escalante. Cops be damned. Needless to say, I cut that trip short and have never been back since.
