Ok. It happened when I was around 10 or so, and my cousin was with me and saw it too. To this day we both remember it exactly the same way. It's basically a car or a vanishing black truck.
Where I grew up in Utah, it was just fields and dirt roads. The closest house was about a quarter of a mile away and it was abandoned and in ruins. The previous tenant was an older man who committed suicide there. It was known as the Hermensen House as that was the

last name of the man. Because of that and the ensuing ''haunted house'' notions, you can imagine that it held a fascinating and horrifying appeal to us

to see if we had the courage to go check out the house ourselves. I'd been there before a few times (rarely alone).
It had a reputation already because either actual ''devil worshipers'' or mischievous teens (or both) were known to use the place to do their thing. The cops knew about it and that it had been vandalized in various ways. For instance, someone/people had carved satanic things into the walls. Someone had put a dead cow's head up in
