In the early 80s while attending Chico State I lived in a duplex on the corner of 6th and Salem. Late at night I would often hear scratching noises in the walls. At first I chalked it up to pests, but after laying traps without results and several inspections by local exterminators came up empty handed, I began to feel something more sinister was responsible. For months the scratching continued, and other things started to happen. One night I came home from a party, and the stove was on I hadn't used it in days. Lights would turn off and on in the middle of the night, and sometimes the toilet would flush itself. It was terrifying. Eventually I just couldn't stay there anymore. I spent most nights at my boyfriend's place. Other nights I would crash at a friend's. Has anyone else experienced this?. Submitted by Charlotte

I was raised on Lassen Avenue across the street from Joshua Tree apartments next to the church. The house was built in 1900, and we lived there for 12 years. I would hear footsteps, doors would open and close, toilets would flush and sinks would turn on by themselves. One night when I was 7 years old I got up to go to the bathroom and saw a figure of a man sitting in our lazy boy chair. The figure looked at me and got up and walked over to me then vanished.

My sister had the bedroom with the attic entrance. One night she dreamed she looked up in the addict and saw an old lady rocking in a rocking chair in the corner. She only told me about it. My mom and dad ended up in that room a couple years later, and my dad had the same dream. Submitted by Anthony

There is only one haunted house in Chico that's legit', my aunts house, it's haunted. When it was up for sale there were demonic writings on the wall, and proof of witchcraft rituals and that wasn't all. There is fresh cement like if they buried something, the paranormal things that happen there are greatly active.
