For a few years I lived in an apartment complex on Rosecrans (half a block west of Lakewood blvd). These apartments were behind an old hotel / nightclub called the Tahitian Village (later called La Zona Rosa) before it was demolished.
The apartment I stayed in is still there but I don't know if it was ever part of the Tahitian Village (the architecture was very similar). I was once told by someone close to me that (back in the day) this are was the place to go if you needed any party supplies or any of your other vices taken care of.

When I moved in there was local gang activity and someone was shot is the complex behind mine and before I moved out and man accidentally killed his toddler son with his car while the boy played in the street.

Aside from that nothing very unusual happened outdoors but a few strange things did happen in my apartment. I stayed in an upstairs apartment in the back of the complex that would be the north west corner, 2 bedroom apartment of the facility.
At the time my children were small they had not started school yet. One time in their room they were playing and began to argue. The big one came out crying and told us that the lady in the room pulled her hair.
I asked did your sister pull your hair? Her reply was no the lady pulled my hair. My little girl would sit in the room and talk to herself, she would stare up at one corner of the room and talk to ''her friend''. She told me that her friend was a lady.
