When I was about six years old my parents moved me and my siblings to El Monte, and it all started that very first night we were there. The closet doors hung from the ceiling on rolling hinges that slid open and close. The master bedroom had four doors while the two other bedrooms had two each. She was always covering me every night when the loud noises came as if she was protecting me from it. My parents knew that I had what they called 'an imaginary friend'.
