And of course the Mexican-American war had a lot of death.
Please read the story about Oliver Whitherby, it's a good read. Thank you for the info about the prior name of Escondido, it was my starting point.
Other accounts of this Oliver are very clean and portray him as a pillar of the community, that's why its was hard to find out why all the hauntings and this comes off as another sleepy town.

We have a few houses on our street that have activity, we are at Homestead Pl and Seven Oaks. Our community was built around 1989. Very curious to know about what was here before. We have things moving, 3 knocks, child, infrared beams (to know when they leave their rooms at night to use bathroom) being set off when no one is upstairs. One home they touched the back of a woman's neck, jump on the bed.
We are so interested in any info about this area. Maybe mass killings like war or burials or something but I can't find anything directly tied to this area, any input would be great.
