They chase people out of the cemetery then disappear. There is a stone mausoleum towards the back of the graveyard behind the cemetery fence. It is the resting place of a vampire. The doors are welded shut and a plaque that reads ''do not open approach at your own risk you have been warned''. You can see into the mausoleum through vent holes in the back, the casket is a dark violet color with a huge cross on the top.

Comment by James: The name of the cemetery is St. Marys and I have been there myself and saw the vampire's tomb. The place is very haunted and so creepy to look at. Actually both cemeteries in Ferndale, CA. are creepy and haunted.

Comment by Deborah: No one was ever hanged for being a witch in Ferndale. Witch trials were long over with by the 1850s when the town was first settled. And the only vampire in the area were actors who filmed ''Salem's Lot'' back in the 1970s. Is the cemetery haunted? Could be.
Comment by Sarah: Have you seen Sarah Miller's tomb? It's in the cemetery next to the church. It's been cracked open quite a while now. I did an EVP there and asked her if she was still present. I walked away. I came back 10 minutes later and about 2-3 minutes after I walked down the aisle to give her space you can distinctively hear a female voice struggle to moan out 'I am.' I was 19. Now almost 10 years later and I refuse to go back at night to any grounds in Ferndale.
Comment by Geo: Was there at twilight over 20 years ago? The old church was completely gutted for renovations at the time. A light came on in the bell tower. I've never been back.
