So about 20 years ago my dad was going to Manteca to pick my mom up as he was going down Manthey Road; he noticed a guy riding a horse. My dad said he almost hit the guy with the car. He said it was weird that this guy was riding a horse, but it wasn't making any noise.
As the horseman got to the Chinese Cemetery it turned towards the gates and entered. My dad turned to look for the horseman, but he was gone. That's when it finally hit him that

that was a ghost. I remember that night he got home after picking my mom up from work he wouldn't stop talking about it.

I'm not from CA. But I've heard a story of a friend whose grown up in French Camp. One day he said at a certain age he was coming home walking across the field and in the corner of his eye something big caught his attention.
The closer he got that thing moved away. It was huge! The second time he went with friends an again he saw it and his friends saw it too. This time it went towards them! It was a tall bird as a human but it flew towards them.
Then it just disappeared.
