was almost threatening. I don't know why or what was really going on, but I threw the covers over my head and apologized and asked the ''energy'' to please go away, that I was done. I don't think I took the covers off my head all night. And no, it never happened again. Submitted by Marie

One evening after sunset I was headed south on the 101. I was entering the zone known locally as ''creepy hallow'' or ''ice alley'' and had a strange contradicting kind of feeling to look down at my stereo. Like I knew I shouldn't take my eyes off the road. But, it was a straight away, and I looked down long enough to see what time it was. As I looked back up there was a dark humanly figure in the road standing on the double yellows. I saw it just as I passed it. Felt like I could have lightly clipped its clothing with my driver' side mirror. Completely freaked out by the feelings, thoughts, and actions that led to this, I continued forward, glancing in my rear view mirror to see if whatever or whoever was in the road was okay. (I'm a female traveling alone and didn't want to stop in a dark area frequented by hitchhikers. ) The figure didn't move. No hands thrown up in frustration of, ''hey you almost hit me!'' Nothing. It just stood there, as still as it was when I passed it. Super eerie.

About 10 years ago around 12:00 am I was driving from my house about 10 miles out Branscomb Road to my mom's house in town. My boyfriend and I were fighting, so I figured I'd stay with her instead. Half way there just before ''Winchester Flats'' as known by locals, I saw a lady walking in tan shorts and a yellow tank top. I figured it being cold dark out and in the middle of nowhere she must have needed help. I thought she was fighting with her man too, so I stopped to see if she needed a ride. But she vanished. I then realized that the foggy air around her was actually perhaps a ghostlike aura instead. The hair stood up on my neck and chills ran down my spine. I felt like she was in my car, but I couldn't see her. I told her I couldn't help and asked her to leave my car. I prayed for Jesus to help her, though I wasn't religious. I prayed for his protection for myself. I was so scared. I wouldn't drive home after dark alone for three months after that. Submitted by Nelly
