I grew up in Martinez, and a few years ago my family and I moved to Wyoming Street. It is next to a church on Kelly Avenue. One night my little brother and I went up to the church to explore the church because we heard it was haunted. We both saw a figure that appeared before us in a doorway, an elderly woman. She whispered something that sounded like ''leave,'' and the door shut. We were both so scared and ran out as quickly as possible. The entire time we heard footsteps of someone following us. Needless to say, when we even look towards the church the hair on our neck stands up. We won't be returning.

On Kelly Avenue there is an old abandoned church that is fenced off and chained. My friends and I decided one night we would go visit the church to see if there was any haunting, and boy we got more than we bargained for. The church was pretty sizable, and there were many rooms and hallways inside the church. The first thing we saw was of course the main altar where there were lines of benches. The altar itself looked very old, and the smell of the church was very stale. My friends and I kept playing games with each other and fooling around until we saw one of the doors inside the church open. That freaked us out. As we continued to investigate, the door that opened by itself and another door that was already open closed by themselves. That's when we decided to take a break and go outside.
Then we went back in, except this time we did it one by one. First person was my friend. He walked all the way to the front of the altar by himself and said he turned his head and saw the outline of a little girl sitting on one of the benches. Once he saw the apparition he made a mad dash towards the exit where we were patiently waiting for him. He told us what he saw and told me I was up next, so I went inside the church and walked towards one of the hallways. At the end of the hallways I saw a figure standing there about the same height as me looked like a male. At first I thought it was my own shadow, but then the shadow moved towards me which freaked me out. I sprinted towards the exit where my friends were hanging out and told them we have to go. Unfortunately, they did not listen to my request and decided to explore deeper inside this haunted abandoned church. As we explored we saw a metal rod sticking of the ceiling and the rod led to the next room which looked like the kitchen. One of my friends tugged on the metal rod, and the rod shot out of his hand and into the kitchen area.
After that we heard a loud banging noise from one of the doors on the opposite end of the altar, and that was when we made the wisest decision of the night and left. This place is truly haunted. Once again it is fenced off from the public (most likely due to drug addicts breaking in. ) There is no doubt in my mind that this place is haunted.
