I checked out the small path past the old broken stone gateway behind CV Park next to the wash. There is something very wrong and supernatural with the area. Once we passed the small patch of corn, the whole area went pitch black, and I felt wrong like I should turn back and leave. That was when I noticed that I couldn't hear any background noise. It was completely silent. Now it was pretty early at night, and the area isn't absent from the sounds of the

surrounding city of Montrose. There are city noises that are just there.
However, in this one spot all the sound vanished. There were no sounds

of cars driving on the street over, no owls hooting and no dogs barking. There were not even the sounds of planes or the freeway. The only thing we could hear was each other's breathing and the creaking of leaves we stepped on.
I had thought that the darkness was a result of no park lights, so we flipped on a phone flash light to see the floor, so we could walk back. The light wouldn't pierce farther than a few inches in front of the phone. I turned
