House on Apricot St. Oak View was haunted by a woman who hanged herself there years ago. She would toss things and appear as a shadow in the bathroom. She was most active in February. We lived there for over a year.

I ran into a ghost picking up a friend at a restaurant in Oak View. I had a single cab truck at the time and was driving up highway 33 near the edge of Oak View when I saw something waving in the side view mirror. When I looked directly at the mirror the waving object went into the truck bed. I got a bit panicked and decided to place my chin on steering wheel so I couldn't see out the mirrors. (Happened to be near a turn where people crash often before the town.) I got to the restaurant and didn't say word to my friend about it. We made small talk and were in Ventura on 101 freeway when my friend was adjusting the stations on the radio. He nearly jumped out of skin and said ''hit the brakes. There is someone in the truck bed.'' This is when I really got scared because I didn't tell him about my experience earlier. I hit the brakes. He looked using the brake lights to see, but he didn't see anyone. He told me he saw the shadowy outline of a person sitting in the bed behind me staring at the back of my head.

I told him about my earlier experience at that point. Be careful on highway 33 at night. I won't drive it alone anymore at night.

A ghost wanders the Ventura River bottom area in search of the culprits who set fire to his barn years past. Known locally as ''Flame Face'' due to the burns on his face. The barn was believed to be the site of Satanic rituals.
