Growing up my dad always took us to Kernville to cool down for the summer, and every year I can always remember passing by the old Cottage Grove Cemetery in Onyx, California. This year I finally decided to calm my curiosity and decided that my husband, my sister, and I were going to respectfully explore the area. I can remember the beautiful hot day, and I was thinking how peaceful the area was with only a few trees, cattle, and plains as far as the eye

can see.
We walked around and noticed all the old graves, and one caught my attention. A gravestone with the years of life indicating that the

girl or young woman died young. I remember I was imagining what she could have looked like in the 1800s, and I obviously thought about how she died. While commenting on the age of the old grave of the unnamed young girl and as we were walking away, we heard a girl's voice that said ''hello''. It was as clear as it can be.
We all simply looked at one another shocked indicating that we all heard the ''hello''. We called out to see if someone was kicking
