I do not want to give away my address, but I live near the beach and frequently walk to the shore if the weather is nice. About five or six years ago, it was a gorgeous November day. One of those rare days that is cold and clear with a good wind. It felt like a true autumn day. I left the house late after doing some gardening and walked to the water. There were surfers out, thousands of seagulls, a few people on those sailboards trying to stay afloat.

I watched the action for a while and then found a good spot on a rock and began reading my book. I became so engrossed; I did not notice the time until

a big splash of icy water drenched me and my book. The tide was coming in fast, and I scuttled off the rocks as quickly as I could. The sun was just setting and the sky was ablaze. Shades of indigo and navy green, and the whole spectrum of red and orange lit up the sky.
Pretty indeed, but I needed to hustle and get back home before dark. People drive like maniacs, and I did not want to walk that curved road without a flashlight. I would be dead meat
