I know of three adult males that passed in one house alone on Stokes Avenue from 1968 to about 1989. First two were heart attack, and the last I knew of was suicide. A male spirit haunted the place before 1989. After the suicide might be more now. The spirit that was there before I left in 1973 was an old man, and he was very short. You could hear him shuffle through the living room from the kitchen through the living room to the master bedroom on the left side of the house. He would also go from bedroom door to bedroom door and sometimes open the bedroom doors. It was almost like he was checking to make sure all were safe. We called him Uncle Heck.

My mother has owned a house near PVHS for 35 years and there has been significant activity on her property as well as other neighbors on the same block. Footsteps in the dark, apparitions, misty figures and all around bad energy. We were always told and then later researched that Pinole had a wild past due to the boom of the gold rush. But it didn't stop there.
We later confirmed that from 1968-1995 a total of 12 people died violently on this block. Murder, suicide, drug overdoses you name it and it happened there. We have just learned via Cal Berkeley that Pinole was built on and over 200 + Ohlone Native American Shellmounds (Burial Grounds). Which explains the strange bones/shells we found after digging in the backyard. Way to go developers and City of Pinole!! You did a great job at hiding this information from the public. Shame on you!.
