While growing up in Del Rosa in the north end of San Bernardino there were orange trees, olive groves, and open spaces back then. There was an old train track that crossed Sterling Avenue just above where Aquinas High School now stands. Late one night while coming home from a drive in theater (the old baseline drive in) we were traveling up towards Marshall Avenue. It was late, it was dark, there wasn't much there back then other than the orange

orchards. As we approached where the old rail road crossing once had been we saw faint headlights glowing to the left of us. So not knowing who would

be in the orchards in the middle of the night we stopped, and to our surprise suddenly we saw an old Model T touring car convertible with a man in a dust coat and beret with goggles, and a woman with a big broad feathered hat all dressed in period costume. They crossed directly in front of us and vanished as soon as they had crossed the road, even the sound of the car vanished as well. We all sat there for a minute trying to figure this out, there was
