When I was young I did not believe in any nonsense. I only believed in what I could see. In 1982 we moved into a big old house, down a driveway behind a lot of other houses. It was located on Houston Avenue across from the Adult School. My mom worked nights. She would come home about 3:00 am every night. She started complaining that we were leaving lights on all the time. My sister and I started making sure we turned off all the lights before bed, but in the morning she was yelling at us about the lights. Later the water faucets would be on.
One day we had a BBQ; my sister and I were cooking in the kitchen. She was on one side of the faucet peeling potatoes, and I was on the other side chopping vegetables. Without even bothering to look up I reached for the faucet, but I quickly realized my hand wasn't feeling the cold metal handle of our faucet. I looked up and realized I was holding my sisters hand. Apparently she had also reached for the faucet without looking. We were both about to laugh at ourselves because we were rushing, and our hands were not even close to the faucet when it suddenly turned on all by itself.
I made a nice bedroom for my two-year-old daughter. She had a new bed and bed set. I set up all her toys and hung up stuffed animals on the walls, but no matter what I did or tried she would not sleep in that room. Then one night I got mad at my husband went in the room to sleep. It was late, my mom had come home already. The bed started to shake. At first I did not fully wake up, and I thought it was an earthquake, but the shaking was persistent and gradually got stronger and harder to ignore. It finally woke me up.
At the foot of the bed was a body of a woman in an old fashion white bathing suit. The bed was hovering about a foot off the floor. The stuffed animals were dancing in thin air. It was like a scene from a horror movie, and I do hate horror movies. She was floating towards me, around the side of the bed. She was wearing long white formal gloves and had long fingers. She was reaching for my neck and trying to choke my neck. I jumped off the bed and started swing my arms and fist, but they passed right through her incorporeal body. I could see her but could not feel her. She was between me and my mom's bedroom. I'm not ashamed to say I wanted My Mommy. I ran past her and started yelling for mom to wake up and turn on the lights, and she disappeared right in front of me.
We moved soon after that night. Other people that lived in that house asked us if we had any experiences. We told them some. I have never told anyone but my family about had night. I was afraid people would call me crazy or a liar. I am neither of those things. But that night changed me forever.
