November 1987 ; a month or so after the 1st October 1987 earthquake.
A friend was piloting his primo 1980 Ford Pinto, I was sitting passenger-side. It was an unusual-for-that-time-of-the-year warm evening when we drove to the original Thrifty's location in the old, original Quad centre for a couple scoops each of twenty-five cent ice cream .
Upon leaving the Quad's parking lot, we drove toward Colima . Up Colima toward

Hacienda Boulevard; then up Tetley toward Turnbull Canyon .
It was nice and quiet ... Almost *too* quiet for 2100 HRS on a Saturday !
A few miles

into out ascent up Turnbull Canyon Road , we came upon some bright , flickering lights; they were emanating from the Skyline Drive crest .
Something was amiss!
I started seeing these pasty-white characters, glassy-eyed and stiffly walking about; just blank stares .
I started to feel numb and overcome by fear.
As we approached the crest, we were speechless . We couldn't talk!
There it was: a burning pentagram ! It was drawn on the streets'
