in January 1992 , after a solid week of rain , the weather was at last nice again. Actually, a heat wave for certain. Turnbull Canyon Rd was washed-over with mud , but still accessible by vehicle . My neighbor was driving his 1977 Toyota Corolla ; a great vehicle for on-road travelling through the canyon . My first sighting was some older guy, dressed in a suit and holding a briefcase-appearing thingy. His attire was quite vintage; looked to be about

1920's or so, if not earlier . He was walking out from one of the fire trails in effortless stride. He stopped by the paved road and just looked about. Oddly,

he didn't have so much as a hint of dirt or mud anywhere on himself !! As we were passing him, I turned to look over my shoulder ; he was gone !
After driving around for about an hour or so, scoping out the ''hot spots'' and finding nothing unusual . On out descent towards Beverley Blvd, I again saw the same character! This time he was standing, looking at his pocket watch; again, he was completely clean ! This time he stared intently at us as
